We all know that kids love coloring. So why not give them coloring pages that they'll like and love? When I was a kid and I wanted to color a picture my mom had two choices. She could pile the kids in the car, go to a store and buy me a coloring book, or she could draw some pictures herself.
Now that we're in the age of the internet, you don't have to either! You can sit comfortably in your chair while you download and print great coloring pages for your kids that can be used instantly.
The coloring pages you'll find here are suitable for ages 3+. There are some that have big spaces for younger kids who don't have well-developed motor skills, and there are also coloring sheets that have more detailed designs for older kids who are developing the ability to stay in the lines and want to make masterpieces.
These coloring pages can be used with crayons, markers, colored pencils, or even water color. You can print as many of them as you want - totally for free. Best yet, the children in your life are going to love them.
So take a look at the free coloring pages below and print the ones that you think your child will like. You can even invite your child over to the screen so that they can pick the ones they like. This way, you can be sure that they like the coloring sheets you're printing.
Creative Ways to Use these Free Coloring Pages
Sure, you can print the pages out and let your kids color them, but there are more possibilities than you might be aware of. Not only can they be fun for your kids, but these coloring sheets can help you take care of what you need to take care of, and they can be a great way to connect with your child too.
Try out some of these ideas...
- Use them as incentives. When your child completes a behavior chart, he can go into a collection of pre-printed coloring pages and choose one as a reward. (Keep them in a file or basked to stay organized.)
- Use them when you're on an important phone call. If you need the kids to be quiet while you're on the phone, let them pick a coloring sheet that they like.
- Have a coloring contest. Let your child and her friends choose a coloring page. Print enough copies for everyone. Tell them not to write their names on the papers. Let them color their pictures and then you can be the judge. The winner gets to pick the next coloring sheet that will be used for the contest.
- Use the coloring sheets on a rainy, cold, windy, stay inside day. Enough said.
- Take them on the road. If you have a stash of coloring pages in your bag, (along with some markers or crayons) then your kids can be entertained no matter where you are. Pull them out in the waiting room, in a long line, on a long road trip, while you're visiting a friend, while you're at the bank...
- Spend some quality time together. Let your child pick the coloring page that she likes best - then work on coloring the page together! Ask her to tell you which parts you can color. Let her guide you as you create a beautifully colored picture as a team. Some of my best childhood memories with my mom were of us coloring the same page together.
- Help your child learn to draw. Print out the coloring pages and then give your child an extra sheet of white paper. He can put the blank page over the sheet you printed out and then TRACE the outline he sees. Then he'll have 2 pages to color.
