Having your preschoolers help out around the house is super important.

It’s a great age for you to start  laying the foundation down so that when you want to talk about responsibilities and taking care of things as your kids get older, they’ll be able to understand you better.

Plus – at this age, preschoolers usually think it’s fun to help Mommy around the house.

Because of that, it’s not really even that hard to get them to do their chores. (So no excuses!)

You might even get your kids their very own helper apron, smock, or special hat that they wear only when it’s chore time. Make it a game and your kids will love it.

Something to think about before you use the chart though…

What’s your goal in using the preschool chore chart?

Do you want your kids to have lots of experiences? Or do you want them to be consistent in doing a few things?

If it’s important to you that your kids have a variety of chores and experiences and you want to list lots of chores on the chart, that’s fine. Just don’t have your kids do them every day. Skip days in between and stagger the chores throughout the wee

If you want your kids doing daily chores, limit it. Don’t have them doing 9 a day. I’m a fan of having your kids keep track of just one chore on a chore chart. But depending on the intensity of the chore, keep it under 5 for sure. You don’t want your kids rebelling about the chores because you’re putting too much pressure on them to get lots done everyday.

Think about it ahead of time, and make sure you choose an appropriate number of chores to put on the chart. Then start using it with your preschooler and have some fun together!
